Carolyn Ruschak, M.A. Ed., LPC
Licensed Professional Counselor
Carolyn is a Licensed Professional Counselor licensed by the Ohio Counselor, Social Worker, and Marriage and Family Therapist Board. Carolyn earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Ohio University in Athens, Ohio, and a postbaccalaureate certification in secondary education from The University of Phoenix in Tempe, Arizona. She earned a Master of Arts degree in Education with a focus in Community Counseling from Malone University in Canton, Ohio. Carolyn is also a fully trained EMDR therapist from an EMDRIA approved training facility.
Carolyn has worked in the mental health field for both non-profit community based and private practice agencies. Her professional work has a focus on treating life transitions, developmental/childhood trauma, relationship issues to include parental estrangement from adult children, ADHD, anxiety, depression, and substance misuse. Carolyn approaches counseling from an eclectic, client-centered lens, using a combination of mindfulness practices, behavior therapy, EMDR (eye-movement desensitization and reprocessing), cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, motivational interviewing techniques, bibliotherapy, IFS (Internal Family Systems), spirituality and narrative therapy. Carolyn has training and experience in working with clients suffering with grief and traumatic loss.
