Our Therapists


Our therapeutic approach is to provide support and practical feedback to help clients effectively address personal life challenges.  Our therapists integrate complementary methodologies and techniques to offer a highly personalized approach tailored to each client. With compassion and understanding, we work with each individual to empower them build on their strengths and attain the personal growth they are committed to accomplishing.

Our therapists are equipped to utilize a variety of therapeutic approaches and practice trauma informed care. They are highly trained in both mental health and addictions counseling as well as crises repsonse and prevention stratgies. We are committed to furthering our training to utilize the most up to date and evidence based practices.

North Canton Therapy Works was founded in 2010 by Cindy Zurbrugg and Natalie Edwards. As professional colleagues for several years prior, they connected as they both share a passion for mental health recovery and a desire to do what it takes to provide clients with a non judgmental, professional, and caring experience that fosters success and positive change. They both felt called to develop a practice that focuses on these values and the highest standards of professional care. Our practitioners are all highly regarded in the field and bring their own unique talents and expertise to the practice.

Natalie Edwards PCC-S, MA Ed
Professional Clinical Counselor, Supervisor


Natalie is a Professional Clinical Counselor Supervisor licensed by the Ohio Counselor, Social Worker, and Marriage and Family Therapist Board. Natalie earned a Bachelors of Arts degree in Psychology from Kent State University in Kent, OH. She earned a Master's of Arts in Education degree in Clinical Counseling from Malone University in Canton, OH. She has specialized training as a Trauma and Loss Clinical Specialist from the National Institute of Trauma and Loss in Children. 

Natalie has experience as a Family Involvement Coordinator in the Stark County area as well as a mental health counselor and supervisor working for Trillium Family Solutions. She also has been a child and family therapist for Child and Adolescent Behavioral Health. Natalie has experience as a consultant for various Stark County schools as a member of CARE Teams and has conducted suicide/risk prevention programs such as Teen Screen. Natalie also serves as a mental health consultant, crisis responder and trainer for several area Employee Assistance Programs.

Cindy Zurbrugg PCC-S, MS Ed
Professional Clinical Counselor, Supervisor
 

Cindy is a Professional Clinical Counselor licensed by the Ohio Counselor, Social Worker, and Marriage and Family Therapist Board. Cindy earned a Bachelor's of Science in Education degree from Kent State University in Kent, OH. She earned a Master's of Science in Education degree in Clinical Counseling from Akron University in Akron OH. Cindy is a Trauma and Loss Clinical Specialist certified by the National Institute for Trauma and Loss in Children. 

Cindy has experience as a Certified Prevention Specialist for Quest Recovery Services. Cindy has also worked as a Therapist for the Domestic Violence Shelter in Alliance,OH and a child and family therapist for Child and Adolescent Behavioral Health. Cindy has experience as a consultant for various Stark County schools as a member of CARE Teams and has participated in suicide/risk prevention programs such as Teen Screen. Laura Kidd, PC, MA ED 
Professional Counselor

Laura Kidd is a Professional Counselor licensed by the Ohio Counselor, Social Worker and Marriage and Family Therapist Board.  Laura earned a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Castleton State College in Castleton, Vermont and completed her grauduate studies with a Master's Degree in Clinical Counseling from Malone University in Canton Ohio.

Laura has previous experience working with at-risk adolescents at the Easter Seals House in Rutland, Vermont.  She has mentored teens and facilitated group sessions.  Laura's areas of interest and educational research include anxiety, depression, and substance abuse. She has been a great assett to our team.

Jessica A. Headley, Ph D, LPC
Licensed Professional Counselor

Jessica Headley became a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Ohio in 2011. She earned her doctoral degree in Counselor Education from The University of Akron and has completed advanced training in Women's Studies and Gerontology. Prior to private practice, she has clinically worked in hospital, community mental health, and college settings. 

Jessica has experience working with children, youth, adults and older adults, as well as couples and families. Her primary specialty areas include women and gender issues, gerontology, and career development.

Sean Lynch, MS, LPC, LICDC

Licensed Professional Counselor

Licensed Independent Chemical Dependency Counselor

Sean Lynch is dually licensed as a Licensed Independent Chemical Dependency Counselor with the Ohio Chemical Dependency Professionals' Board and a Licensed Professional Counselor wih the Ohio Counselors, Social Workers, Marriage and Family Therapists Board. He is an active member of the American Counseling Association, Ohio Counseling Association, and Ohio Mental Health Counselor's Association. He was inducted into Chi Sigma Iota, the internation honor society for the profession of counseling, in 2016. 

Sean is a graduate of the Master of Science Clinical Mental Health Counseling program at Walden University. His minor area of specialization is Addiction Counseling. Sean graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Akron in 2013, earning a minor in Forensic Psychology and a certificate in the Forensic Study of Behavior. Sean earned recognition as a Presidential Scholar at the University of Akron. Sean also earned a certificate in Advanced Hypnotherapy from the Hypnosis Motivation Institute in Tarzana, CA. 

Sean has several years of experience in the case management of severe, persistent mental illness and severe substance use disorders. He formerly volunteered on the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline, providing telephone crisis services to individuals in Northeastern Ohio.

Casey Quinn, MA, LPC

Licensed Professional Counselor

Casey Quinn is a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Ohio. Casey graduated from Walsh University with a Bachelor's of Arts in Psychology-Community/Clinical. As a Walsh University student, he has been inducted into Psi Chi, the International Honor Society in Psychology, as well as the Alpha Mu Chapter of Chi Sigma Iota, the internation honor society for the profession of counseling. Casey is registered with Ohio Counselors, Social Workers and Marriage and Family Therapsists Board as a Counselor Trainee.

Casey is a licensed school counselor in the state of Ohio. Previously, he has experience as a school counseling intern at Green Intermediate School and Green Middle School where he co-facilitated groups related to leadership, friendship, grief and loss. In addition, he worked at St. Thomas Aquinas High School as a guidance counseling intern.

Michele Maas, PCC-S

Professional Clinical Counselor

Michele Maas is a Professional Clinical Counselor licensed by the Ohio Counselor, Social Worker, Marriage and Family Therapist Board. She has a Bachelor's of Art in Psychology and a Master's of Art in Counseling and Human Development, both from Walsh Univeristy. Michele has been a clinical counselor for over 17 years.

Michele began her counseling career as one of the original members of the CARE Team at Alliance Middle School, working as a school-based therapist for Child and Adolescent Behavioral Health. She also worked as a school-based therapist in inner city Akron with Pastoral Counseling Service, providing individual and group therapy to at-risk adolescents for 10 years. Michele was also a clincial supervisor who supervised a team of school-based clinicians. 

Additionally, Michele is a professor at Malone University, teaching undergraduate psychology courses including; Introduction to Psychology, Abnormal Psychology and Adolescence and Juvenile Justice.

Jessica Lansinger is a Licensed Professional Counselor licensed by the Ohio Counselor, Social Worker, and Marriage and Family Therapist Board. Jessica earned a Bachelor's degree in Psychology and Communication and her Master's in Clincal Mental Health Counseling from The University of Akron. Jessica was a member of Chi Sigma Iota, the international counseling honor society.

Jessica's previous experiences include working with individuals and groups struggling with addiction and severe mental illness and implementing crisis intervention. Jessica also works to provide individual and group counseling to children as a school-based therapist.
